Personal Profile

Following a long career in developing and managing private healthcare facilities, for the last two decades Jo has developed her skills as a textile artist. Influenced by her Grandmother’s tutelage as a youg girl and seeking out striking fabrics, which have been sourced from all over the world she blends them into colourful abstract works of art. Confronted by how best to sell her work, Jo’s entrepreneurial vision led her to identify a gap in the market for the whole range of works of art which she believed could be filled by the establishment of an on-line art gallery and in 2011 the Creative Arts Gallery was launched. Subsequently we purchased a framing and guilding business, framing artwork for many of the recognised scotish artists for their exhibitions. At the onset of the pandemic and the closure of all non-essential business the gallery and workshop sadly had to be closed.
The last decade has seen considerable changes in the retail market with the technical revolution, the pandemic and the on-set of working from home becoming a norm.
Now is the time to move forward with a new website showcasing Jo Taylor Textile Artist. I am passionate about colour, texture and design and I want to share this passion with you. Textiles have an emotional resonance for me, I have things I’ve owned for many years and still wear today, or use in my home. They feel part of me.
Today’s market place with its “throw away culture’ fuels some of the world’s biggest problems such as overconsumption. overproduction and Climate Change, creating a major world wide problem of textile waste. We should not ignore the past by browsing Tamaris Bespoke, you can see not only unique and stylish pieces, but you are also contributing to a more sustainable fashion industry.
