The Interaction Design Foundation defines Colour Theory as the study of how colours work together and how they affect emotions and perceptions. It has been likened to a toolbox for artists, designers and creators in helping them to choose the right colours for their projects, enabling them to pick colours that go together and convey the right mood or message through their work.
It is interesting to note that Colour Wheel Theory was first mapped by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666 through his documentation of the colour spectrum and its 12 basic colours.
The understanding of the blending of colours in everyday life is fundamental in the creation of works of art, be it paintings or material of one sort or another. Today there is a wide range of such work all of which enriches creators and purchasers alike.
